One Crazy Quilt Block

the first of twelve blocks is complete - here is a close up of a horse I embroidered, simply following the pattern already printed on the fabric - that made it easier :)

The theme for the blocks is Psalm 111, and I have printed out on cotton fabric all the verses.  The first block features the first verse.  I chose as the prominent pattern a light blue "toile" featuring carousel horses, which run off the carousel....

The blocks will each be hexagons.

I like working with natural fibers - wool, cotton, and sometimes silk...they are all gifts from God... and seeing what can be made with simple beginnings.

I am the mother of two greatly loved and most precious adults, a son and a daughter; am divorced and we all live with my father, who graciously and loving welcomed us 20 years ago.....I work to take care  of his house, yard and two long haired dachshunds... and to sell through my etsy shop when I can Thank you for visiting! I am thankful if you'd like to follow, too :)
and my inspiration and life is the Word of God - because these are His hands, and how could this earthen vessel possibly create anything, but that He is the strength of it all, and to Him be the Glory~

Come along on the 25th & meet some new people and new-to-you blogs, even without registering!
thank you to Anneliese for posting ~

Now for the foundational joy! -  work has begun on the crazy quilt journal project for 2014 ....
 having learned from the
participants in CQJP2013, thank you  Margaret :) , that making the 12 blocks at the beginning helps a lot ...

I searched for a foundation upon which to start building the blocks... I have fabric but lacked a foundation, a base of colors, shades, etc......

Joy when I found RemarkablySew !
I purchased  8 step gradations of hand dyed cotton squares in coffee...and received the lovely package of neatly cut, pressed, washed and hand dyed fabric...
 all ready to SEW!

A foundation of colors and piecing right in hand! ♥♥♥ Their selection of hand dyed fabric is beautiful  and wonderful to build upon for a quilt, crazy quilt, textile art - :D  They have all colors, and lovely batik too...& die cut/pre cuts!

What a difference having these pretty squares, all cut, washed, beautifully hand-dyed, has made  - I can begin working from a steady foundation, and it has helped me focus on the task at hand; having a view of the future (completion at the end of the year), and a view of the blocks  as they are embroidered and illustrated one by one over the coming weeks and months... stay tuned :)

For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.  1 corinthians 3:11
Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together. isaiah 48:13
